May 19 was a beautiful day in Southern California, but it wasn’t just mild temperatures and all the smiles that brightened the day. Rather, it was the support of so many at the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge that made the day memorable. (View pictures below!)
This past Saturday, the 5 Arch family joined forces at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, CA, to walk, run, or bike to raise funds for cancer research.
Our own Shawn and Marci Miller Cancer Research Fund contributed $7,500 to the challenge, plus $50 for every adult who joined our team. Since we raised $26,580 last year, we decided to aim even higher this year, with a goal of $60,000 for cancer research.
We’re pleased to report that we surpassed our goal and raised $82,025 thanks to the tremendously generous support from our friends, family, partners, and colleagues!
That money will be used to fund leading-edge cancer research at UCI’s Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and may also be combined with federal funds. We are so grateful that all of these donations can lead to more than $100K in medical research.
“Anyone who walked, ran, biked, or donated contributed to this incredible success. Your support means the world to me, and to so many others who have lost a loved one way too soon,” says 5 Arch CEO Shawn Miller, who lost his mother, grandfather, two uncles, and cousin to cancer. “It’s a strong disease, but we are stronger.”
At 5 Arch, we believe that a cancer-free world is within reach, and we are now closer to that goal than ever before thanks to the enduring support of our team and our esteemed business partners who have become family. Together, let’s continue to fight for a cure so we can leave cancer in the dust once and for all.
