5arch Is Leading the Charge Against Cancer

Posted by Lisa Cabral on March 25, 2019

When UC Irvine announced its inaugural Anti-Cancer Challenge in 2017, 5arch CEO Shawn Miller knew he had to participate. Having lost his mother, grandfather, two uncles, and cousin to cancer, it’s a cause very near to Shawn’s heart—so much so that he and his wife, Marci, established The Miller Family Cancer Research Fund for his 50th birthday.

That’s why Team 5arch is a proud participant in the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge, a community movement designed to raise awareness and funds for the UCI Cancer Center and move us closer to finding a cure.

Our Fundraising Mission

Two years ago 5arch raised $26,580 for cancer research, and last year we raised $82,025, thanks to the tremendously generous support of friends, family, partners, and colleagues. This year, we decided to aim even higher, with a goal of $120,000!

That money will be used to fund leading-edge cancer research at UCI’s Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and may also be combined with federal funds. That means that 5arch’s $100,000 can lead to nearly $1.5 million in medical research.
