On Saturday, June 8, 2019, a record number of people raised record-breaking funds in support of life-saving cancer research at the 2019 UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge. With 169 team members, 5arch was named the largest team as well as the top fundraising team at the community movement designed to raise awareness and funds for the UCI Cancer Center and move us closer to finding a cure. “Your support gives our amazing researchers the ability to explore their most innovative ideas,” explains Michael Stamos, MD, dean of the UCI School of Medicine. “What our scientists learn in the lab enhances the care provided to patients.”

A Fundraising Success Story

In 2017, 5arch and The Miller Family Cancer Research Fund raised $26,580 for cancer research, and in 2018 we raised $82,025, thanks to the tremendously generous support of our friends, family, partners, and colleagues.

We’re pleased to report that for the 2019 challenge, Team 5arch raised $101,035!

Every dollar will be used to fund leading-edge cancer research, and may also be combined with federal funds—so 5arch’s $100K+ can lead to nearly $1.5 million in medical research.

“The only way this happens is through the love, support, and dedication of our friends, family members, and colleagues,” says 5arch CEO Shawn Miller, whose own family has been profoundly affected by cancer. “We set our sights higher than ever this year, and you helped us realize our vision. A cancer-free world is within reach.”
